Meet The Team - Temitope Modupeola

One of the most exciting things about being a startup is building a team of people who bring unique experiences, fresh ideas, and a passion for learning. Over the next while, we’ll be introducing you to more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with Grain Data Collector Temitope Modupeola.

Driven by Innovation

With a background in agronomy, Temitope has always been passionate about agriculture and understanding crop quality. But it wasn’t until discovering Ground Truth Ag that he saw an opportunity to combine that passion with emerging technology “What really caught my attention was the innovation,” Temitope says. “I had never seen grain quality measured this way before.”

Before joining the team, Temitope was familiar with traditional grain testing, where samples are sent to a laboratory and results can take days to receive. Learning that our benchtop could deliver both visual and non-visual quality insights in just minutes sparked his curiosity. “I wanted to understand how it was possible and be part of something that was changing the way grain quality is measured.”

What He Does

As a Grain Data Collector, Temitope works across multiple areas of the business, supporting chemistry, machine learning, and benchtop validation. In the chemistry lab, he analyses grain quality using Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRs) and other laboratory equipment while also performing quality checks on benchtop units before they are shipped to customers. On the machine learning side, he helps annotate thousands of grain images, identifying characteristics across crops including soybeans, wheat, oats, and more. This annotated data helps train and improve the AI models that power automated grain grading. “The work is always different,” he explains. “Every area teaches you something new.”

What He Enjoys Most

For Temitope, the people are what make Ground Truth Ag stand out. “Everyone wants to help you learn,” he says. “If you have a question, people take the time to explain it.”

He also appreciates the collaborative environment and the opportunity to work alongside experts from different areas. Whether it’s chemistry, machine learning, software, or engineering, every team contributes toward the same goal. “I’ve learned so much already because everyone shares their knowledge.”

Looking Ahead

Temitope hopes to continue growing alongside the company while applying his background in agronomy to help improve grain quality assessment. “I want to grow with the organization,” he says. “If I have ideas that can improve what we’re doing, I want to contribute them. That’s exciting to me.” As Ground Truth Ag continues to expand, Temitope looks forward to helping shape the future of automated grain grading.

Outside the Office

Away from work, Temitope enjoys spending time with his family. His two children stay busy with soccer, volleyball, and badminton, making evenings and weekends full of practices and games. When he has quiet time, Temitope enjoys reading about grain quality, following current events from around the world, and staying informed on topics that spark his curiosity. He also enjoys watching movies and keeping up with news from around the world. “I always like learning something new,” he says. He also enjoys getting together with friends whenever he has the opportunity.

One Thing You Might Not Know

Many people are surprised to learn that Temitope is an avid chess player. “I’ve loved playing chess since university,” he says. “Whenever I have some free time, I’ll often open a game on my phone.”

Whether he’s studying grain quality, learning something new, or thinking several moves ahead on a chessboard, Temitope brings the same curiosity and thoughtful approach to everything he does. We’re excited to have Temitope on the team as we continue advancing the future of grain grading.
