Meet the Team: Bonifacio Jr. (Jun) Cadelina
One of the most exciting things about being a startup is building our team and bringing together the right people to help realize our vision and shape the culture we're growing. Over the next while, we’ll be introducing you to more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with General Assembler Bonifacio Jr. (Jun) Cadelina.
From Automotive to Agtech
Jun joined Ground Truth Ag after more than two decades in the automotive industry, where he worked in precision assembly and process improvement at Toyota Motor Philippines. His experience included a year of advanced training in Japan, focused on high-standard systems and lean manufacturing.
When he moved to Canada, Jun already had another job offer on the table. But after a conversation with Kyle, he saw something different in Ground Truth. “It felt like the right fit,” he says. “A place where I could actually help build something from the ground up.”
What He Does
As a General Assembler, Jun is responsible for bringing our benchtop units to life. He works from mechanical and electrical engineering drawings to complete sub-assemblies, wiring, system integration, and transforming components into finished, working machines.
But Jun’s role is more than following instructions. He’s an integral part of helping shape and refine the way we build. “It’s not just assembly,” he explains. “Here, I get to think about how things could work better. Suggest new tools. Be part of the improvement process.”
What He Enjoys Most
For Jun, the creativity and collaboration are what set Ground Truth Ag apart. After years of working in a fully standardized environment, he enjoys being part of a team where innovation and flexibility are encouraged.
“We’re not just repeating the same steps every day - we’re growing,” he says. “From five benchtops to 20, now to 50. It’s steady progress, and I’m proud to help build the processes that make that growth possible.”
Outside the Shop
When he’s not assembling benchtops or solving process challenges, Jun can usually be found on his mountain bike or hanging out with his family. He brought his bike all the way from the Philippines and rides around Regina whenever he gets the chance.
On weekends, he’s often at his kids’ (ages 10 and 12) badminton and table tennis lessons, running errands, or cooking traditional food.
The family also shares a love of travel. “We try to plan something every two years,” Jun says. “So far, we’ve visited places like Japan and Singapore and it’s a big part of how we spend time together.”
One Thing You Might Not Know
Jun may come off quiet or serious at first, but he’s quick to laugh and easy to talk to. “People are surprised once they get to know me,” he says.
We’re lucky to have Jun helping shape the future of manufacturing at Ground Truth Ag.
