Meet Jatin Pandya
One of the most exciting things about being a startup is building our team, bringing together talented individuals who help us shape our vision and culture. Over the next while, we’ll be introducing more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with Grain Data Collector, Jatin Pandya.
Meet Jatin
Jatin’s journey to Ground Truth Ag started long before he set foot in the lab. Back in India, he grew up on a farm where his family raised wheat, pulses, and vegetables. His dad, a farmer himself, passed down both knowledge and curiosity.
“When I heard Ground Truth Ag was working on grain grading technology, I got really excited,” he says. “This is something that helps farmers. I wanted to be a part of it.”
After working in Saskatoon in the oil industry, Jatin was ready for a change. His family was in Regina, and the opportunity to work on something meaningful made the move feel like the right one.
“I am very thankful I got the chance to join,” he says with a smile.
From Chemistry to the Combine
Jatin works as a Grain Data Collector, spending time in the lab and with the annotation team. With a background in pharmaceutical and agricultural labs, he was already familiar with instruments like spectrometers. But grain grading was something entirely new and that was the fun part.
“I had never worked on annotation or grading before. Now every day I feel like I’m getting an education, not just doing a job,” he explains. “It’s exciting to learn something new all the time.”
What stands out most to him is the team environment.
“It does not feel like just an office. It feels like home,” he says. “Everyone is friendly and helpful. If I do not know something, someone explains it to me. It is a great place to learn.”
Always Learning
Jatin’s main goal right now is growth. He wants to get better at annotation, understand grading more deeply, and contribute as much as he can to the lab and the team.
“Grading is not easy. It takes time to learn,” he says. “But I try every day. If I can become really good at annotation, that will be a big achievement for me.”
Even with his past experience working with grain companies in India, this is a completely new world and he is embracing it fully.
Outside of Work
When he is not in the lab, Jatin spends most of his time with his wife and three kids. Family is everything. His house is filled with laughter, good food, and the occasional chess match—sometimes with his daughter, and sometimes just for a bit of quiet thinking.
He also loves to read. Chemistry and medicine are his favourite topics, and most of his free time goes into reading and researching just for the joy of learning.
And here is something most people don’t expect: Jatin plays guitar.
“One day at a family function, my friend handed me a guitar and asked me to play. No one in my family even knew I could,” he laughs. “They were all shocked. I usually just read books, so this was something different.”
Jatin brings curiosity, patience, and a true love of learning to Ground Truth Ag. Whether he is collecting grain samples, working on annotations, or helping out in the lab, he does it all with care and dedication. His work helps keep our data clean, accurate, and always improving—and we are lucky to have him on the team.
