Meet Ni Nguyen
One of the most exciting things about being a start up is building our team. Bringing together people who bring new perspectives, a love of learning, and a shared commitment to building something meaningful. Over the next while, we’ll be introducing more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with Grain Data Collector, Ni Nguyen.
Meet Ni
Before joining Ground Truth Ag, Ni spent some time working in a medical clinic. When she transitioned into her role as a Grain Data Collector, she wasn’t sure exactly what to expect, but it didn’t take long for her to find her stride.
“Honestly, I hadn’t worked in agriculture before, but once I started in this role, I found it so interesting,” she shares. “It felt like walking into a completely new world. There’s something to learn every single day.”
From day one, Ni approached the work with openness, curiosity, and appreciation for the opportunities to grow. “I’m very thankful I got the opportunity to work at Ground Truth,” she says.
What She Does
Ni’s role spans both the chemistry lab and the grading and annotation teams. Whether she’s measuring protein and moisture content or identifying disease characteristics in grains like soybeans and faba beans, her work is central to the model training that powers Ground Truth Ag’s AI systems.
“I really enjoy that I get to learn from both sides of the process,” she says. “One week I might be in the lab, learning about grain composition, and the next I’m working on annotations and understanding what different types of damage or characteristics look like in each crop.”
What makes it even better? The people. “Everyone is so helpful and kind. When I have questions, my coworkers take the time to explain everything clearly. It’s a great environment to learn, to share ideas, and to grow.”
Always Learning, Always Improving
For Ni, the work is as rewarding as it is challenging. Her goal is to keep learning and contribute more and more to the team as her experience grows.
“It takes time to get good at identifying all the characteristics and understanding how grading works,” she says. “But I do my best to learn from my teammates every day. My goal is to keep improving and contribute as much as I can in the future.”
Outside of Work
When she’s not in the lab or working on grain annotation, Ni is often spending time with her two teenage sons cooking traditional food, watching movies, or heading outdoors to enjoy the fresh air.
“We like camping together, especially around Regina Beach and some of the smaller lakes nearby,” she says. “I also love to travel. I’ve been to Australia, Singapore, and across Canada - Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto. Hopefully, I’ll get the chance to see more of Europe one day too.”
And one thing that often surprises people? “When people first meet me, they might think I’m quiet. But once we become friends, they realize I’m actually pretty open, sociable, and even funny,” she laughs.
Ni brings a quiet enthusiasm, steady dedication, and strong sense of curiosity to everything she does; whether she’s analyzing grain quality or discovering new places with her family. Her work is helping strengthen the foundation of our AI models, one sample at a time.
We’re proud to have her on the team. Stay tuned for more Meet the Team stories as we introduce the people behind Ground Truth Ag!
