Meet Mikhail Kim

Over the next while, we will be introducing you to more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with our Mitacs Accelerate Intern, Mikhail Kim.

Meet Mikhail

“Three things really came together – it’s about agriculture, it involves spectroscopy – which is related to my PhD - and it was in Regina where my spouse was relocating,” Mikhail explains about why he decided to come work at Ground Truth Ag.

“I really like the size of the team at Ground Truth – at big companies, you can get lost or struggle to communicate directly with each other. Here, we’re all together, and can always discuss problems and come up with solutions with each other.”

What he appreciates most is the opportunity for collaboration and learning from his teammates. “Overall, the environment in the office is cheerful and friendly and the organization of the company is very strong,” Mikhail states. “We have such a good team  – I’ve learned a lot from the machine learning perspective along with agriculture, spectroscopy and programming for chemistry. I hope in the future, I can continue to learn and contribute.”

When not at work, Mikhail enjoys exploring cities on foot. This summer he visited Paris. “I was very skeptical of Paris – I didn’t really want to go there. I expected a very different experience but it was very interesting. I’ve also explored a lot of cities in Canada  - some smaller and some bigger with different lifestyles and pace.”

When in Regina, Mikhail enjoys going to the movies, seeing his friends, drawing and playing with his dog. “He’s a Jack Russel Terrier - 13 years old and still crazy,” Mikhail laughs.
