Meet Kim Keller

One of the most exciting things about being a startup is building our team - drawing together our inner circle to help us realize our vision and grow our company and culture. Over the next while, we will be introducing you to more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with our Vice President of Commercial Development Kim Keller.

Meet Kim

“It’s been quite some time since I’ve been a part of a startup and I didn't realize how much I’ve missed that kind of environment until joining Ground Truth Ag,” Kim laughs. “Every single day you come to work and you get to make a real impact on what's happening – and that’s a great feeling.”

Kim is no stranger to either the ag tech space or the combine. Having successfully built an ag tech business a decade ago while also farming with her parents and brother on her family’s farm outside of Melfort, Saskatchewan, she brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Ground Truth Ag.

“Ground Truth’s founder, Kyle, started his first company at the same time as I co-founded my first company, so we were building at the same time in the ag tech space. When Kyle told me about the work his team is doing and the potential in the technology they are developing, I could see how it’s going to change agriculture for the better,” she explains. “I'm a farmer. I sell my grain, but the grading process and supply chain post farm is not something I had been a part of.  The process we use for grain grading hasn’t had the eyes on it that it should – so this is a real opportunity to make an impact on agriculture as a sector.”

Kim hopes to be part of a solution to many of the pain points in grain transactions. “The technology we are developing is going to mean a better process for all of the stakeholders involved,” she states. “The one thing I've heard over and over again from all stakeholders in the supply chain is that they all feel the same headache - just at different times in the process and at different scales. We have a unique opportunity to solve a very real problem and that's very exciting to me. That's what I want to accomplish.”

Kim also sees the opportunity to learn and grow within her new role at Ground Truth Ag. “I have always been drawn to roles that will have a positive impact on agriculture. Here, I get to work firsthand with the team that is so capable and so smart. I get a front row seat to see the progress being made,” Kim shares. “It's been great to be so close to it and see that on a daily basis.”

When not at work or the farm, Kim enjoys quiet time at home and being outdoors. “I enjoy reading, puzzles and love to play golf and hike as much as possible. I also love baking and giving it away to people around me to enjoy!” She adds, "I'm extremely passionate about mental health in agriculture. In 2018, I co-founded The Do More Ag Foundation with a number of partners. It's a national charity focused on providing mental health supports and raising mental health awareness in rural communities across Canada."
