Meet Folake Oteju
One of the most exciting things about being a startup is building our team and bringing together people with diverse experiences to help shape our future. Over the next while, we’ll be introducing you to more of our team at Ground Truth Ag, continuing with Project Manager, Folake Oteju.
From Telecom to AgTech Innovation
Before joining Ground Truth Ag, Folake spent over 10 years working in the banking and telecommunications sector in Nigeria, including a long tenure in project management at a major telecom provider. When she moved to Canada in 2018, she continued building her project leadership experience with a cloud computing company, managing cloud-based initiatives in a fast-paced tech environment.
Despite never having worked in agriculture before, the opportunity to apply her skills to something tangible and impactful immediately stood out.
“Ground Truth Ag felt different,” she says. “They’re building solutions that really matter. I was excited about the chance to be part of a company using innovation to solve real problems in a new industry for me.”
What She Does
As Project Manager, Folake works across the engineering, software, and product teams to coordinate projects and ensure successful delivery to customers. Her job is to help keep things aligned, making sure teams have what they need, timelines are clear, and challenges are addressed early.
What she enjoys most is the collaborative environment. “There’s a genuine openness here,” she says. “Everyone is willing to help, and learning is encouraged. That makes my job easier and more rewarding because we’re all moving toward the same goal.”
What She’s Working Toward
Folake’s biggest goal is to see Ground Truth Agriculture recognized as the most trusted provider of innovative agricultural solutions backed by consistently successful project delivery.
“I want to contribute to making our processes strong and reliable,” she says. “Not just once, but every time. When customers receive our solutions, I want them to feel confident in the quality and support behind them.”
Outside the Office
When she’s not aligning timelines or coordinating teams, Folake finds joy in quieter moments. She loves listening to gospel music, reading inspirational books, and following motivational speakers. She also writes in her spare time and is currently working on a book based on her own story, with plans to publish it later this year.
“I love to encourage people,” she shares. “Especially those going through challenges. I want my story to inspire others.”
Folake also enjoys mentoring young IT professionals and stays connected with a close-knit circle of friends and former colleagues from her telecom days in Nigeria. Now in Regina, she is part of regular summer hangouts, often heading to local parks like Buffalo Pound to catch up and enjoy the outdoors.
One Thing You Might Not Know
While Folake describes herself as a reserved person, she has a strong creative side and a deep passion for helping others grow. Whether she’s mentoring, writing, or planning a team milestone, she brings quiet focus and care to everything she does.
We’re grateful to have Folake leading projects and helping turn our vision into reality at Ground Truth Ag.
